The Deepest Sea is duo

Chelsea Madrigal and J Dallar

Chelsea Madrigal Biography

Chelsea Madrigal has lived and performed from south to east to west and back again. She has frequently performed in cities like Austin, Dallas, New York, Los Angeles as well as Tepoztlan, Mexico and Costa Rica.

Chelsea is an “open up your soul” kind of performer that you might just want to catch playing solo on the beach singing to the ocean and the sky with her voice of a siren swirling in a sea of melodic rhythmic guitar lulling you into a sweet soft trance.

Otherwise, these days, Chelsea is mostly focused on her duo and recording project, The Deepest Sea, founded with band mate and co-creator J Dallar of The Wild Blue Yonder.

The Deepest Sea is a kind of live cinematic soundscape. Their music takes you on a journey from a haunting dream to the top of a lonesome mountain listening to an old country song, into the wildest ocean of looping melody leaving you swaying to the lingering sounds of transcendental beats, as you drift into early morning’s moonlit sky.

When it comes to music Chelsea is not only a singer/songwriter, but she records, produces, mixes and is well versed in Pro-Tools and other electronic mediums. She plays the guitar and a little bit of a lot of other instruments. She has an affinity for looping and layering since the very beginning.

She has freelanced as a music supervisor and music licensor for Montage music and Little Bear Studios. She is a freelancer as a film production assistant and film production coordinator for producer Eva Lindemann and Nan Bush and Photographer and Filmmaker Bruce Weber. If you need music whether it is her own or her amazing network of extremely talented artists and musicians, there is so much art to share with you.

She has played many venues to name a few, from the legendary now extinct CBGB’s Gallery,  Shine,  Rockwood Music Hall and Drom in New York. The Viper Room, The House Of Blues, Cinema Bar and The Knitting Factory in Los Angeles.  The Kessler Theater,  Opening Bell and The House of Blues in Dallas.

She has played several benefits for some amazing organizations such as Evolution Box’s benefit for 911 at Shine in New York, Susan G. Kohmen in Los Angeles and The Go Girls Music Festival and Benefit for Promise House in Dallas. She has played music festivals such as The Abbot Kinney Festival in Venice, California to several SXSW showcases in Austin, Texas, CMJ music festival in New York, and Envision Music Festival in Costa Rica.

Her vocals and songs have been featured in several films such as Carl Colpaert’s 2004 film The Affair winner of 5 Gold Remi Awards and 2010's horror release Nostrum. She has also sang on several guest albums such as E-Reece, Non-Human Intelligence, and created original music and vocals with DJ Jackie Christie and Jim Nicholson under her project Children of Om for Bacardi and Details magazine compilation album, Night Flavours at the first re-opening of Studio 54.

Chelsea has recorded several albums. Available for download and streaming on most streaming services.

Some reviews of my work:

"... it sounds like the song has been dipped into a warm bath, smoothing over all the pieces of the original to create a rippled synth soother." - RCRD LBL

“J. Dallar's sound scape remix "Continuum" manages to both unsettle and excite, evoking a nocturnal journey with hints of dawn breaking through. While ominous, it's also got a heart-in-your-throat sense of anticipation..."

-Peter Smith - Editor - Nerve.com

“J Dallar's remixes create other-worldly atmospheres and polychromatic imagery by using a broad collection of sounds from electric guitars and crescendo-filled strings to controlled feedback, radio wave interference and beat making. By layering musical statements, the remix culminates in sparkling guitar figures and washes of ambient electronics. J's remix compositions are built with an intensity and richness “

- Jessica Kepler- Development Manager- Celebrate Brooklyn! Performing Arts Festival

"It is unclear how much of the remix uses electronic instrumentation or samples, if any, but it seems the song is actually a blend of meticulously designed sounds as much as arranged instruments...a particularly cinematic craft."
